Are instant coffees of inferior quality compared to regular types of coffee?

Question by Alexander T: Are instant coffees of inferior quality compared to regular types of coffee?
Is the cosumption of instant coffee from health standpoint of view worse than drinking, say, espresso or filter coffee regularly? I am asking because I find myself drinking quite a lot of instant coffee during the day, while in the office.

I’ve never heard of any more danger. Too much of either kind is bad for you, but it’s fine in moderation.

Finding High Quality Coffee Supplies

Article by Chris Hegi

It is amazing how much can be done with your money, if you just do it right. For business owners in the Seattle area, more and more good news is becoming available, concerning prices on supplies, and better ways to save your money. All you have to do is keep your eyes and ears open. If you are looking for some good coffee supplies in Seattle for your business, and are interested in saving some money, consider some of our following suggestions:

First of all, simply be aware that you can find coffee supplies in Seattle for cheaper than you think. If you can find a way to connect yourself with a good wholesale supplier that offers good quality products for a decent price, you will essentially be set for life, as long as things go well. The trick is, then, to find the dealer, and seal the deal.

Lots of times, when you are looking for ways to save money on items such as coffee supplies in Seattle businesses, a word-of-mouth recommendation can really get you started. It is possible that, if there is a dealer who offers a better price than many other businesses like it, the customers will keep their mouths shut about it, so as to maintain their monopoly on the best deal in town. However, if a good friend or reliable source can refer you to a company, you just might be able to get in on the deal yourself.

You can even look for coffee supply providers on the internet. By simply typing in a few keywords, and setting aside some time to look around, you can find a number of different options that can offer you a great deal on the things you are looking for. Just like with many other things, it will be a good idea to kind of look around before making a final decision. However great it may seem at first sight, it is never a bad idea to make some comparisons with competing businesses, and see if you can negotiate a deal that fits comfortably inside the limits of your budget.

Find out the good things and bad things about each company, so that you can know what to expect from the provider you will be working with. Knowing beforehand the kind of services you will receive will do much to sway your decision about working with providers of coffee supplies Seattle. By doing these kinds of things, you

Roasting is the Key to Quality Coffee Blends

Article by Ray La Foy

It might seem a little hard to conceive, but all the rich flavors of coffee depend mostly on two different types of beans – the Robusta and the Arabica. The varying flavors themselves, for the most part, are actually created during the roasting process. This is where a master roaster will take ordinary beans and make them extraordinary by enhancing their flavors during the cooking process. The skill of the roaster and the beans in question will result in the flavor of coffee a drinker desires.

From the coffee plantation to the roasting stage, beans themselves go through several processes. They must, of course, first be harvested and then dried. Beans that are dried, but are not roasted, can actually hold their full flavor for a very long time – up to two years in some cases. These beans are generally referred to as “green.” Once the roasting process is completed, the time clock begins ticking on the full-bodied flavor of the beans. It will begin to diminish, but generally not enough for anyone other than a serious connoisseur to notice.

The key to making different types of coffee – from America light to espresso dark – lies in the hands of the master roaster. Using specialized equipment that carefully turns and roasts beans evenly, the roaster cooks the concoction to just the right temperature and time to yield the flavor brew desired.

The types of roast most common include:

* Light roast. This is generally considered “American coffee.” The roasting process is cut short of the bean’s natural oils and sugars beginning to caramelize. The flavor is weaker than a European roast, but favored in coffee houses and homes all over the USA.

* Vienna or French roast. This is kind of the all purpose medium-bodied roasting. Here the beans are left in a bit longer to give the end product a richer, bolder taste. The beans’ natural oils and sugars start to caramelize, but aren’t allowed to do so for too long.

* Dark roasts. True European dark roasts are strong creations that require a longer cooking time.

* Espresso quality. The darkest of the roasts, this one involves not only the caramelize of the beans, but cooking right up to the burn point. For espresso, the beans must be very dark and roasted just right. The end result is coffee beans that are ideal for espresso and other favorites such as cappuccino and Cuban coffee.

Once beans are roasted, other flavors can be added. These can include such tastes as vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate and more. The key, however, is all in the roasting process where the real coffee flavor is unlocked.

Freshly roasted beans will hold their full flavors for a short time, but can be made to extend by not grinding them before use. Real coffee lovers grind their coffee beans just before brewing to ensure the richest, boldest flavors possible.

There may be only two major beans going, but that doesn’t mean all cups of coffee are alike. When it comes to creating flavors, the key is all in the roasting process. When a master roaster proceeds in his or her craft, the outcome is truly gourmet.

Why The Best Quality Coffee Makers Are Important

Article by Cravplan Reside

Long gone are the “old” days when people used coffee pots with steel filters, made coffee on the stove, and it took time to make. The first high tech coffee maker to appear was a Mr. Coffee brand name, and it was all the rage with coffee drinkers. We don’t remember what it was like to only be able to choose between brands like Folgers and Taster’s Choice. Back then it was unheard of, even impossible to drink the ‘common’ types of coffees available now like espresso, etc. If you need to buy a coffee maker, today, there are so many it’s incredible, and how do you go about making the right choice that you’ll be happy with?

When it comes to something lots of people want to use, it has to be the Cuisinart DCC-1200 12 Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker, and it’s available at Amazon.com, of course. There’s a lot of automation built into the Cuisinart DCC-12. Like all the rest, you can program it to brew any time you want or is best for you. If you need a coffee maker that can handle brewing a dozen cups of coffee, then this is a model you may want to take a closer look at. Cuisinart has been in business for a very long time, and there are many coffee makers from this company. They produce the Cuisinart DCC-2600 Brew Central 14 Cup Programmable Coffeemaker which is a top of the line model of coffee makers. Fourteen cups might seem like a lot but if you live in a home or work in an office in which many people drink coffee, the extra room in the carafe can be a godsend. This Cuisinart model includes a pause button with which you can pause the brew cycle for whatever reason you may have. It’s one of those things where you won’t use it all the time, but if you ever need to do that, then you’ll have it. Of course you can use it for the obvious reason of pouring that first cup in the morning before the brewing was finished.

Another highly popular brewer is the Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single Cup Home Brewing System. Ok, we’ll tell you upfront that it’s an expensive unit.

You can see this excellent coffee brewing system at Amazon, and it’s about (just under) 0.00 as this is written. You will be able to brew an excellent tasting cup of your favorite coffee beans with the B70. What is really nice is having the ability to brew according to a range of 5 different sizes of coffee cups – outstanding we think.

There’s no denying that the home coffee brewing market has just exploded in recent decades. In the 70s instant coffee was still the rage and people were excited about that. Now people are ordering special coffee beans online and grinding them at home. Coffee drinkers have really come of age because some will spare no expense in their quest for the perfectly brewed cup of coffee. When all is said and done, the most important thing is to just be happy – get your coffee and sit down and relax.

Making the most of where you live is important and I hope that at my website at http://www.residebath.co.uk where I discuss issues related to living in Bath and letting agents Bath if you have any questions about renting property you may find the site useful.

Q&A: Where to find a quality coffee press inexpensively?

Question by J_O: Where to find a quality coffee press inexpensively?
Plain and simple: thrifty and coffee connoisseur.
Bodum is VERY popular, BUT I learned recently from a friend that it is very delicate [her’s shattered by accident in the process of washing it by hand. It tipped as soon as she set it down in the drained sink.] Therefore, one with a flat base, not pedestal feet would be ideal.

I LOVE my DeLonghi Magnifica 3300, and it’s usually one of the very highest rated too ….. It has a bean reservoir, and grinds fresh for each cup(s); a water reservoir, so you just push a button to brew; a ground dispenser reservoir (so you don’t have to empty grinds all the time); a frother; you can select strength or how large the cup(s) is …….. You can get them at Bed, Bath & Beyond … or Linen & Things, and probably Williams Sonoma or Crate & Barrel. You can also find them NEW in the box, on eBay. Expect to pay at least $ 700; and I think the MSRP is closer to $ 1300+

Tips For Selecting Quality Coffee Beans

Article by Harvey J. Sharp

Coffee is one of the most widely distributed commodities in the world, usually sitting #2 behind oil. It is the most consumed beverage in North America and the third most consumed beverage in most other parts of the world, behind water and tea. Considered a specialty product due to the delicate growing conditions that are needed by coffee farmers, coffee comes in a variety if different qualities, ranging from inexpensive (instant coffee blends) to expensive (pure beans, special roasts). Here is a breakdown of how to select quality coffee beans for your next cup of java.

Aroma
Arguably one of the most attractive qualities of coffee is that aroma that comes from the beans as well as the fresh grounds. Your first element that should guide you to buying beans is to choose a bean or bean blend that has a pleasing aroma. Don’t be afraid to stick your head in the bag and take a deep breath. Fresher roasts will have distinct aromatic notes that older roasts won’t. In fact, freshly roasted beans will have no trouble filling a room with its goodness. Tip; go for the beans that smell the best.

Storage
While not always possible, it is important to ask your coffee bean seller how the beans are stored. Beans generally stay fresh longer in cool, dark locations, such as a cellar or a windowless room. They should not be kept in the refrigerator or even in the freezer, as these two areas are too cold.

Look
Beans should always be examined before being purchased. Some beans are quite oily, while others are relatively dry. Purchasing oily beans, rather then dried ones generally means there will be slightly more acidity to the coffee after its roasted and the roast is likely a dark one.

Taste
Some stores will go the extra mile and allow you to try a sample of the coffee before making a purchase. You can always ask the employee to make you a small espresso and give it the true taste test to see if it measures up in the coffee mug . If the coffee is an espresso, let it sit for a minute first before consuming. The flavors will often balance within this period and give you a truer coffee flavor.

All these tips are meant as guidelines for your purchase. Ultimately, you should be asking the coffee store employee lots of questions and telling him or her what kind of coffee you enjoy. They’ll often be able to pair you with something of your liking.
