Gourmet Tea & Coffee Drink Recipes : How to Make a Cafe Macchiato

Caffè macchiato also known as espresso macchiato refers to a coffee drink. It is composed  of espresso with a little amount of milk. ‘Macchiato’ actually means ‘marked’ or ‘stained’, and with caffè macchiato, this literally means ‘espresso stained/marked with milk’. Traditionally, this drink is made with one shot of espresso, and the little amount of added milk was actually the ‘stain’. But later on, the ‘mark’ or the ‘stain’ became the foamed milk that was placed on top so others would known that it has a little milk in it, generally about a teaspoon.
