No. Always add your condiments after brewing. You can also add ground cinnamon to the grounds. It has nutritional properties such has lowering blood sugar. You only add about a teaspoon or less to a whole 12 cup pot to avoid bitterness.

Is it better to store coffee beans at room temp. or in the fridge for optimum quality?

Question by Mr. Curious: Is it better to store coffee beans at room temp. or in the fridge for optimum quality?
I’ve read that storing it in the fridge can make coffee lose it’s flavor. However, I’ve also read on the packages of coffee that say it should be stored in the fridge. Which is it? Which is better?

Cold air can ruin your coffee. Keep it in an airtight container in room temperature.

Single Serving Coffee Maker Suggestion Wanted

Question by Scott: Single Serving Coffee Maker Suggestion Wanted
Here’s the deal. I am a student and have a nice 16 oz mug for the car. I am the only person at my house who drinks coffee. I do not currently brew it at home but would like to. As a result I need a coffee maker.

I plan to buy premium coffee from Whole Foods or Starbucks and want to make it taste as good as it does when they make it. Plus I won’t have to drive out of my way to get it.

I can’t make a full pot since I only enjoy a cup a day in the morning and don’t want to be wasteful or have to clean it a lot. I am looking for 12-16 oz cups.

Is this doable? Any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Answer by Lindylou
You can buy the small coffee makers but why not buy a regular one and only make it part way? Then when you have company, you can make more. Also the smaller ones are sometimes more expensive. The main thing is to use distilled water so the pot will last much longer.

We have a Bunn which costs a lot but has been a good coffeepot for many years. It is also very fast. It has water in it at all times so when you pour your new water into it, the coffee comes out immediately.

What is the best Method for Brewing Coffee in the world?

Use a French Press. There are tons of styles and sizes. You can get them anywhere: Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. You put the ground coffee in the bottom (I put in like 1 scoop I think. I think it comes with the press, but I’m not sure) and then add water (just before boiling point). Let it sit for a couple minutes (the longer it sits, the stronger it will be) and then put the lid on, and push the plunger down to keep the grounds on the bottom so they wont pour into your cup.

What are three countrys that produce quality coffee beans?

Answer by mark
Columbia, Jamaica, US (Hawaii)

You could add Indonesia, Guatemala, and Ethiopia to that list as well.

Brazil is the largest producer but it’s focus is largely Robusto beans which are inferior to Arabica beans

Are instant coffees of inferior quality compared to regular types of coffee?

Question by Alexander T: Are instant coffees of inferior quality compared to regular types of coffee?
Is the cosumption of instant coffee from health standpoint of view worse than drinking, say, espresso or filter coffee regularly? I am asking because I find myself drinking quite a lot of instant coffee during the day, while in the office.

I’ve never heard of any more danger. Too much of either kind is bad for you, but it’s fine in moderation.

If something says it’s a “coffee beverage”, does that mean it has caffeine?

Question by nsena31: If something says it’s a “coffee beverage”, does that mean it has caffeine?
I bought a Mocha Cappuccino instant coffee drink (kind of like hot cocoa in that it is powder that you put in hot water). It says it is a “premium coffee beverage” but it doesn’t say if it is caffeinated. How do I know if it has caffeine (like regular coffee)?

Best answer:

Answer by Bubski
If the ingredients say “coffee beans” or “coffee anything” it probably has caffeine.. unless it also says decaffeinated on the label.

Tips on getting the best coffee grinds when grinding coffee?

Question by xDark_Genomex =): Tips on getting the best coffee grinds when grinding coffee?
I just bought a Mr.Coffee Coffee grinder, blade grinder not burr. I’m new to this grinding coffee at home thing so I don’t know whether I’m getting the best grind, but what I do know is that the end product is in need of improvement. Any useful tips on getting the perfect grind.

Best answer:

Answer by singletrack65
Well, you’ll never get the perfect “grind” from a blade (it pulverizes, not grinds) as they can’t make the coffee even. That means some will be over extracted (bitter) and some under extracted (weak).

If you’re using a blade, just do it in short bursts to prevent burning the bean via friction.

We like our coffee strong too, and for 12 cups I put in 3 heaped scoops, which would be about 7 tablespoons.

How to make the best coffee?

Question by loulouthefirst39: How to make the best coffee?
What’s the best method? I had to discard my automatic drip, and was considering doing a Gevalia deal. Then I remembered how I like percolator coffee, and I also remember seeing a coffee press in Target (don’t know even how to use a press!), and I saw stovetop percolators online. What’s the best way to make coffee?
Automatic drip, percolator, stovetop percolator, or press?

Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by mark
I like drip with my French press a close second. My wife likes Perked coffee but I find it overcooked. Keep in mind that each style of brewing benefits from a different degree of grind.

Drip is single pass with no boiling of the coffee whereas french press the coffee sits in the water and tends to release more oils (not necessarily a bad thing).

Of course a good espresso machine tops them all.
